To put it concisely: I think that a woman's sexuality has its most profound and significant roots in her spirituality. I just don't believe in the incompatibility of the body and the spirit, sex and spirituality. They share a root, they are an expression of an in-born desire for union and wholeness and meaning and self-transcendence. I think of sex as deeply spiritual and of spirituality as very sexy and I am incredibly impatient with spiritual traditions that teach the necessary overcoming and abnegation of the body and the senses. What a pointless struggle. What an incredible waste of time. The body is a temple, yes it is; our senses pray constantly through their hungers and appetites and gratifications.
